Nat, Nat Wolff and Alex, Alex Wolff, are the heart of a fictional family-friendly band that headlines the documentary, The Naked Brothers Band. The group, originally called The Silver Boulders, also features Thomas, Thomas Batuello; David, David Thornton; Josh, Joshua Kaye; and their sharp-witted manager, Cooper, Cooper Pillot. Their big break comes when a music executive, John B. Williams, signs them to a label called Who’s the Man Records. The band takes the stage at the Hammerstein Ballroom to perform their new song, “Motormouth,” and a music video clip for “Crazy Car” plays for the crowd, laying out the glossy, high-energy world that lies ahead for these young performers.

Tension threads its way through the group as Thomas writes a provocative track, “Boys Rule, Girls Drool,” which Nat quietly dislikes. Nat pens a heartfelt song called “Rosalina” about Josh’s elder half-sister, stirring friction within the band. Josh and Thomas tease Nat over his feelings, and the strain deepens when Josh composes another tune, “I’m the God of Rock and Roll,” set to a familiar lullaby melody, leaving Nat frustrated and isolated. In the wake of the breakup, Alex turns to a headlong habit of lemon-lime soda as Nat wrestles with the silence by the piano, where he quietly writes a new ballad, “If There Was a Place to Hide.” Outside, fans gather in the street, pleading for the brothers to reunite, their voices rising into a chorus of hopeful anticipation. Yet even in the face of disappointment, a stubborn spark remains. Alex convinces Nat to revive the band, and the duo recommits to their original name, The Naked Brothers Band. Through auditions, they reshape the lineup, welcoming Rosalina, Allie DiMeco as cellist, and Cole Hawkins, Cole Hawkins, as guitarist, while bringing back a trace of the early energy that first drew them to the stage.

With their new formation, the band sets off on a tour that brings them to Chicago. Nat discovers that The Gold Boulders have secured a slot as the opening act, a tense reminder that their path remains a fraught balancing act between sibling camaraderie and professional ambition. The Gold Boulders kick off with “Boys Rule, Girls Drool,” only to be booed off the stage, a sharp contrast to the Naked Brothers Band’s own gleefully crowd-pleasing set. The Naked Brothers Band dominate the night with “Hardcore Wrestlers (with Inner Feelings)” and “Rosalina,” generating thunderous applause from the audience and proving that their chemistry and charm still resonate with fans. The show acts like a turning point, reaffirming what the group stands for and what they can achieve together.

Back at Nat’s apartment, the celebration becomes a reunion tour of sorts as David, Thomas, and Josh arrive to rejoin the band. In a moment of forgiveness and renewed trust, Nat welcomes them into the fold, and the group—older but still playful, united by a shared dream—prepares for what comes next. The film closes on a triumphant note as the foursome performs “Crazy Car” on the roof of the Wolffs’ apartment, fireworks bursting in the background and the sense that, despite the ups and downs, their music and bond endure. The story offers a warm, intimate look at ambition, friendship, and the stubborn joy of making music together.
