The Mummy 3

In Thebes, 1290 BC, the high priest Imhotep begins an affair with Anck-su-namun, the Pharaoh Seti I's mistress. When Seti I discovers their betrayal, he is killed. Medjai guards arrive and Anck-su-namun takes her own life as Imhotep flees.

Imhotep and his priests are mummified alive, and Imhotep himself is buried alive with flesh-eating scarabs. The Medjai vow to prevent his return and seal him away.

In Cairo, 1926, Jonathan presents a map and an intricate box to Evelyn, revealing Hamunaptra's legend. Evelyn negotiates with wardens to free Rick O'Connell, hoping his skills will lead them to the city and its treasures.

Rick, Evelyn, Jonathan, and Gad Hassan join the expedition to Hamunaptra and race a rival group led by Beni Gabor. Medjai warnings are ignored as both teams press deeper into the ruins.

Excavation triggers deadly traps: a scarab kills a guard and workers are melted by an acid trap. The teams press on and uncover five canopic jars and the Book of the Dead within a statue containing Imhotep's mummified remains.

That night Evelyn steals the Book of the Dead from the rival camp and inadvertently awakens the mummified Imhotep. The resurrected mummy unleashes his power as the Medjai and explorers scramble to escape.

Imhotep tracks the expedition back to Cairo and spares Beni to serve as a translator in exchange for treasure. His power begins to grow as he plots a larger move against his enemies.

Imhotep unleashes the biblical Plagues of Egypt as he regains human form. Those who discovered the canopic jars are hunted, and Ardeth Bay and the Medjai race to stop him.

The survivors deduce that Imhotep intends to resurrect Anck-su-namun using Evelyn as a human sacrifice, and decide to return to Hamunaptra to locate the Book of Amun-Ra.

The group is cornered by Imhotep as the city swells with his influence. Evelyn is captured, and Dr. Bey sacrifices himself to allow the others to escape.

Rick, Evelyn, and Jonathan enlist Royal Air Force Captain Winston Havelock to fly them to Hamunaptra. A magical sandstorm conjured by Imhotep destroys their plane, killing Havelock.

The trio reaches Hamunaptra on foot and discovers the Book of Amun-Ra in the ritual chamber. Rick frees Evelyn, and Jonathan uses the Book to control the resurrected servants as Imhotep fights them and the partially resurrected Anck-su-namun.

Rick fatally impales Imhotep, who decomposes back to a mummified form and sinks into a pool, swearing vengeance as he vanishes.

Beni triggers a booby-trap that begins Hamunaptra's collapse; Rick, Evelyn, and Jonathan escape while Beni is buried and scarabs consume him. Ardeth Bay survives and bids them farewell.

The trio leaves with some of Beni's loot as Ardeth keeps watch, and the myths of Hamunaptra linger as a warning of the dangers within the City of the Dead.
