On March 16, 1978, members of the far‑left Red Brigades abduct Aldo Moro, the long‑time leader of Italy’s Christian Democracy party, which had governed since World II. Over the next 55 days the nation watches negotiations, prison stays and a desperate search unfold, ending when Moro’s body is discovered in a car’s trunk. The film offers a neutral, factual chronicle of those intervening weeks.
