The film recounts the true story of partisan leader Silvio Corbari (Giuliano Gemma), who forms an independent band of fighters in northern Italy, outside the CLN resistance. Ines (Tina Aumont) leaves her husband to join the group and becomes Silvio’s lover. Amid Nazi‑occupied Italy, Silvio creates a free enclave in the village of Tregnano.
