In a small town inhabited by anthropomorphic bears, Pancada, Raul Schlosser, a giant panda, works as a janitor at Bear Bar Box, a boxing karate club, and dreams of becoming a professional dancer. He loves a brown bear waitress named Honey, whose warmth brightens his days even as others remain indifferent to his artistic dream.
Polaris, Sidney Ross, the club’s polar bear boss, discovers the finances are slipping, largely because his top boxer, Freak Teddy, keeps racking up wins that draw crowds while draining the club’s funds. Grizzlepuss, the manager, informs Polaris that he’s under contract and cannot step in to take Teddy down himself.
That night Pancada seeks guidance from Master Xin Charlie Mambertt, a small dancing instructor who teaches him about loyalty and staying true to his art.
The next day, Polaris finds his old fighting costume—a two-piece black top, bottom, and a face mask—and asks Pancada to wash it for him. Polaris reveals a plan to secretly fight Freak Teddy in disguise, and Pancada, trying to stay cool, heads off. In the basement washroom, Pancada becomes distracted by the hypnotic rhythm of the washer, and the costume shrinks.
On the day of the fight, a disguised Polaris is put in the ring with Freak Teddy, while Pancada goes to a dance competition. In the arena, the shrinking costume makes Polaris resemble a panda, leading the crowd to mistake Polaris for Pancada. Polaris wins the fight, while Pancada wins the dance competition, though he faces harsh criticism for his performance.
The following day, Pancada’s crush Honey kisses him on the cheek, and he misreads it as a congratulatory gesture for his dancing. A newspaper later arrives at the club, revealing that he was mistaken for Polaris. After some words of wisdom from Master Jin, he approaches Polaris in his office, hoping for a rematch to be properly praised. While Pancada undergoes brief training, the rematch goes badly, and Pancada gives up on boxing.
After the fight, Pancada becomes a laughingstock again, and returns to Polaris’ office to report the outcome. Polaris reveals that he had bet that Pancada would lose, hoping to grow wealthy from the bet. Before leaving, Polaris transfers ownership of the club to Pancada. Grizzlepuss finally confronts Pancada about the scheme, though the panda denies any wrongdoing.
Once Polaris retires to the icy mountains, Pancada transforms the boxing club into a dance club, finally turning his dream into a bold, new reality. The town’s rhythms shift with him, and the story closes on a note of resilience, creativity, and the courage to redefine one’s path.
