The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea

Two years after the events of the first film, Melody is christened at sea in a royal ceremony. King Triton presents a magic locket bearing her name to remind her of her ocean heritage. The celebration is interrupted when Morgana arrives; Triton defeats Undertow by transforming him into a piranha, and Morgana escapes, vowing revenge and prompting plans to take the ocean for herself.

Morgana threatens to feed Melody to Undertow unless Triton yields his trident. In response, Triton transforms Undertow into a piranha, while Undertow retains his stripes and big dorsal fin. Morgana escapes, declaring she will one day exact her revenge on Ariel and Triton.

To keep Melody away from the sea, Triton builds a wall separating the royal castle from the ocean. He also tosses the locket into the depths, effectively severing Melody's ties to her mermaid heritage. The separation marks a clear divide between the human world and the ocean realm.

Twelve years pass and Melody remains unaware of her mermaid roots, forbidden from going into the sea. She secretly slips out to explore the water and satisfy her curiosity. When she finds the locket with her name, she begins to question her past and her true identity.

Driven by curiosity, Melody steals a small boat and sails away from home toward the open sea. Undertow discovers her and leads her toward Morgana's realm, while Sebastian rushes to tell Ariel and Eric that Melody has ventured into dangerous waters. The family must confront the possibility that Melody's destiny lies beyond the castle walls.

Melody meets Morgana, who reveals Melody's marine background. Using remnants of Ursula's magic, Morgana transforms Melody into a mermaid, granting her a glimpse of the sea's powers. The revelation confirms Melody's destiny to be tied to both land and sea.

Triton prepares search parties and, convinced by Ariel and Eric, agrees to use his trident to transform Ariel back into a mermaid so she can join the search for Melody. The family work together, combining land and sea forces to locate Melody.

As Melody discovers her mermaid abilities, Morgana's plan to obtain the trident grows bolder. Melody must navigate her new identity while Morgana's schemes threaten the balance of the ocean. Ariel continues the quest to find Melody and understand her daughter's place in the world.

During her quest, Melody befriends Tip, a penguin, and Dash, a walrus, who join her journey. She steals Triton's trident hoping to control her fate, but this act deepens Morgana's resolve to reclaim it. The stakes rise as possession of the trident becomes a turning point.

Ariel begs Melody not to empower Morgana, but Melody, feeling betrayed by her mother, hands the trident to Morgana. Morgana's true intentions become clear as she takes control of the ocean's magic. The balance between trust and power tests the family.

Morgana traps Melody in a cave by sealing the entrance with ice. The spell wears off, and Melody reverts to a human, nearly drowning. Tip and Dash manage to free her and carry her to shore, where the family hopes to reunite and resolve the conflict.

Scuttle, Triton, Sebastian, and Eric join the climactic battle against Morgana and her minions. Melody seizes the moment to grab the trident and returns it to Triton, who uses its power to overpower Morgana and seal her away. The ocean's balance hinges on the family’s unity and courageous choices.

Triton traps Morgana in a block of ice, and Melody uses the trident to destroy the wall separating land and sea. The barrier's destruction reunites humans and merpeople, and Melody is offered the chance to become a mermaid permanently, which she declines. The film closes with a hopeful harmony between two worlds.
