Seven female prisoners in Poslednata Duma are jailed for ties to partisans fighting the Nazi‑installed fascist regime. Though each could secure her own freedom by betraying the others, they all refuse, choosing solidarity even though it condemns them all. Amid relentless cruelty, they still share jokes and manage to hold a festive celebration.
