The Land Before Time II: The Great Valley Adventure

During the thunderstorm, a landslide caused by heavy rain damaged the Great Wall that protects the Valley. The violent shaking dislodged rocks and sent the stolen egg rolling back toward its original nest in the confusion. The kids were already deep in the Mysterious Beyond pursuing Ozzy and Strut, so they never saw the egg return safely.

The children had just witnessed Ozzy and Strut stealing the egg from Ducky's nest, which set the entire adventure in motion.

Chomper was still a baby Sharptooth learning to control his instincts. Though he had been raised by the herbivores and seen them as family, his predatory nature surfaced when he got excited or startled. When Cera playfully approached him, Chomper's natural hunting instinct kicked in and he bit her on the nose without meaning to cause serious harm.

Littlefoot initially noted that Chomper was not yet dangerous because he was so young, but the group would eventually face the reality of his true nature.

The same landslide that sent the egg back to Ducky's nest also created a breach in the Great Wall. The two adult Sharpteeth were able to slip through this opening into the Valley. The children had earlier crossed through that same damaged section when they ventured into the Mysterious Beyond, and the adults later realized the breach needed to be sealed permanently.

When Chomper's parents chased the group through the forest, Chomper roared to protect Littlefoot. After entering the Valley through the breach, the two adult Sharpteeth were confronted by the valley's defenders who rallied together to drive them out. The united resistance from all the herbivores forced the predators to retreat back toward the Mysterious Beyond, at least temporarily, until the breach could be properly sealed.

The Great Wall was built specifically to keep Sharpteeth out, and the children had learned about the dangers of the Mysterious Beyond where these predators lived.

Ozzy and Strut returned to the Valley seeking revenge on the children for foiling their egg theft. They cornered Littlefoot and his friends near a smoking mountain, but before they could carry out their attack, the mountain erupted. The eruption sent them tumbling into a canyon, ending their threat for the time being. They later resurfaced to kidnap Littlefoot, only to be chased away by Chomper's parents.

The eggnappers had been established as persistent villains who would not give up easily after being humiliated by the children.

After being rescued from the sinking sands, the children felt they needed to prove their bravery and maturity to their families. They held a secret meeting and decided that venturing into the Mysterious Beyond, the dangerous territory beyond the Great Valley where Sharpteeth lived, would demonstrate they were no longer reckless youngsters but responsible young dinosaurs.

The sinking sand incident showed the adults that the children still had much to learn about heeding warnings.

When Ozzy and Strut returned to attack the children, Chomper's shadow fell across them in the firelight. Because Chomper was a young Sharptooth, his silhouette looked like a much larger predator to the two eggnappers. They mistakenly believed an adult Sharptooth was present and fled in terror, giving the children time to escape. This was the first sign that Chomper, despite being a baby, carried the presence of his true species.

Chomper's true identity as a Sharptooth had been revealed when he hatched, but the danger he represented was still abstract to the young herbivores.

The breach created by the landslide allowed two adult Sharpteeth to enter the Valley and threaten all its inhabitants. The adults recognized that until the opening was permanently sealed, the Valley would remain vulnerable to predator attacks. This became a community priority once the immediate danger from the Sharpteeth had passed.

The Great Wall existed specifically to protect the Valley from the Mysterious Beyond, and its integrity had been compromised.

Despite being a predator by nature, Chomper had been raised by Littlefoot and the other young dinosaurs since hatching. He viewed Littlefoot as his family and leader. When the two adult Sharpteeth chased them through the forest, Chomper's protective instinct overcame his fear, and he roared to defend his friend. This act of loyalty ultimately saved the group and led to his parents recognizing him.
