This documentary explores how a single “Big in Japan” videotape ignited a global horror wave. It traces the origins, evolution, and worldwide diffusion of Japanese supernatural thrillers, where vengeful ghosts haunt modern technology amid urban alienation. Early titles like Psychic Vision: Jaganrei (1988) and straight‑to‑video true‑story scares lead to landmark hits such as Ring (1998), Pulse (2001) and The Grudge (2002). Critics and filmmakers discuss the bleak, dystopian atmospheres that reshaped horror worldwide.
