The Hasty Heart

In 1945, a makeshift British hospital in the Burmese jungle houses wounded Allied soldiers who have formed a close-knit bond. They share stories, jokes, and meals while under Sister Margaret Parker's care, finding camaraderie amid hardship.

Lt. Col. Dunn warns that a new patient, a Scot with a failing kidney, will arrive soon and may die within weeks despite outward health. The ward braces for Lachlan MacLachlan and the impact his prognosis will have on the group.

Lachie makes a gruff entrance, and his suspicious, aloof demeanor puts him at odds with the others. He keeps to himself as the rest try to reach out and befriend him.

Margaret attempts to persuade Lachie to buy a regimental kilt to help him fit in with the unit. Lachie resists, citing the cost and his plan to return to Scotland after recovery.
