Through interviews recorded over half a century later, the documentary follows Abraham Lincoln Brigade members. It outlines fascism’s rise, the 1936 Spanish uprising, and the U.S. and Europe’s non‑intervention stance. Undeterred, American volunteers crossed borders to fight for the Republicans. Veterans recall the perils of reaching Spain, scant training, youthful commanders, scarce supplies, heavy casualties, and their vindication after World II.
