Yousry Nasrallah’s adaptation of Elias Khoury’s epic novel chronicles fifty years of Palestinian dispossession, exile and resistance. It follows Younes, his wife Nahila and their community as they flee their northern‑Palestine village for a refugee camp in Lebanon. While some pledge to keep fighting, most simply strive to survive. The film starkly portrays the Nakba’s lasting impact on Palestinian society and the often‑tense relationship with reluctant Lebanese hosts, intertwining personal tales with historic events across generations.
