The Dukes of Hazzard: Reunion! (1997) Spoiler-Free Summary – What It's About

In the rolling hills of Hazzard County, a familiar sense of community is stirred by a bold proposal: Mama Josephine Max envisions turning the beloved Duke family farm into a glittering theme park, a venture that promises jobs but threatens the county’s old‑world charm. The looming development pits progress against preservation, setting the stage for a showdown that could reshape the heart of the region. Against this backdrop, the annual family reunion brings together old friends and new faces, each feeling the weight of tradition as the future of the swamp‑bordering land hangs in the balance.

At the center of the conflict are the Duke cousins, Bo Duke and Luke Duke, whose reputation for daring driving and wild ingenuity makes them the perfect candidates for a high‑stakes, cross‑country moonshine race that could decide the farm’s fate. Alongside them, Uncle Jesse stands as the steadfast guardian of the swamp, while Daisy Duke returns with a fresh perspective after years of study, adding both wit and resolve to the mix. The town’s quirky law‑enforcer, Rosco P. Coltrane, now oversees the county’s affairs, bringing his own brand of humor and authority to the unfolding drama. Together, this eclectic crew embodies the blend of loyalty, rivalry, and southern hospitality that defines Hazzard.

The tone of the film balances light‑hearted comedy with the high‑octane thrill of a classic road race, all underscored by the timeless values of family and community. The open roads, dusty back‑roads, and lush wetlands provide a vivid canvas for both the chase and the quieter moments of reflection. As the Dukes prepare to settle the dispute on the highway rather than the courtroom, the audience is invited to savor the kinetic energy of the race, the humor of the locals, and the lingering question of whether progress can ever truly coexist with the treasured quirks of a small town.
