The Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning

Set in the fictional towns of Georgia, Bo Duke [Jonathan Bennett] and Luke Duke [Randy Wayne] are arrested for reckless driving and blowing up illegal fireworks, and they are paroled to their Uncle Jesse [Willie Nelson] in neighboring Hazzard County for a summer of hard work on the family farm. The Duke brothers are drawn into a clash with the crafty Boss Hogg [Christopher McDonald], who has a habit of bending the law to serve his own interests, and a sense that their family’s moonshine tradition may be the only way to keep the farm afloat. Jesse carries on the family trade, producing the county’s best moonshine, while the clock ticks toward foreclosure if the money doesn’t come in.

Desire, mischief, and a dash of danger push Bo [Jonathan Bennett] and Luke [Randy Wayne] toward action. They glimpse the local scene—the Boar’s Nest, the colorful cast, and the chance to prove themselves beyond the dusty farm—and they set out to win enough cash to settle the debt. When they stumble upon Boss Hogg’s schemes, they realize that the clock is against them: Hogg’s demand for a large payoff arrives in two weeks, or the farm would be foreclosed. Their plan to secure a fast car and a quicker rescue hinges on teamwork with their cousin Daisy Duke [April Scott], who has just turned eighteen and wants to break free from the shy girl image she’s worn for too long.

Daisy joins the effort, stepping into the bar world with a bold makeover that catches the eye of Hughie Hogg [Todd Grinnell], Boss Hogg’s nephew. The couple’s chemistry sparks a fast-track romance, and Daisy lands a job at the Boar’s Nest, where she proves herself capable and confident. As Bo and Luke push for speed and ingenuity, they enlist Cooter Davenport [Joel David Moore], a skilled mechanic who breathes life into a fast engine and a plan. The trio heads to a junkyard in search of a car worthy of the Duke name, only to stumble upon a buried classic in the form of a 1969 Dodge Charger—the General Lee in waiting. With hard work, elbow grease, and a fresh engine, the Duke brothers revive the famous ride, which becomes a symbol of their stubborn resilience and their willingness to fight for their family.

The Deliveries and the Threats grow more perilous as Boss Hogg enforces a dry county, hoping to wipe out moonshine once and for all and turn the Boar’s Nest into an ice-cream parlor. The stakes rise when Hogg offers a spectacular reward for anyone who reveals the illegal operation, and the Duke crew finds themselves pressed from alleys to backroads as they race against time. The tension intensifies as Daisy’s star rises at the Boar’s Nest—and as Hughie learns that his relationship with the newly emboldened Daisy may cost him more than it’s worth.

With Jesse behind bars, the Duke cousins uncover Hogg’s broader scheme: a county-wide ban would clear the way for his own illegal enterprise while sealing off any rivals. Daisy discovers Hughie’s involvement and uses her wit to expose the plan, steering Enos at the radio station to broadcast Hogg’s confession to the county. The moment of reckoning arrives: Bo and Luke, piloting the revived General Lee, ride Boss Hogg out to the edge of Hazzard’s infamous ravine and demand answers, threatening to drive over if he doesn’t come clean. He does, but not before Daisy’s cunning turns the tables, making a public spectacle of his admission.

The climactic jump—Bo and Luke’s first leap in the ravine—becomes a turning point: the brothers force Hogg to pay the $25,000 reward and reclaim the farm. The townspeople rally, demanding a reversal of the dry county policy, and the long-simmering anger toward Hogg reaches a boiling point. Yet the story remains true to its roots: the man who has always sought power is confronted with the consequences of his misdeeds. Hogg is exposed, and he faces consequences that shake the county’s trust to its core. In the aftermath, Jesse and the other moonshiners are released, and the Duke family regains control of the land.

In a final arc of personal growth, Daisy uses her new agency to push back against Hughie’s manipulation—she sends him to the jail cell and walks away, proving that she’s no longer the wallflower she once was. Bo earns a new driving permit from a patient instructor who recognizes his boundless energy, while Luke meets a companion who shares a taste for explosions and adventure. As the dust settles, the cousins climb back into the General Lee, ready for the next chapter of their high-octane, offbeat exploits in a world where family, loyalty, and a good set of wheels can influence the course of a county’s future.
