When a strange meteor shower blinds most of humanity, aggressive, mobile plants called triffids begin to stalk and kill survivors. A merchant navy officer, one of the few with sight, leads a desperate fight to survive and stop the towering predators that prey on people and animals, rallying the few sighted survivors in a search for safe shelter.
