The Chorus

Patricia O'Brian is engaged to Danny Mallory, a detective with dreams of leaving Broadway for a peaceful life on a farm. This desire illustrates the contrast between their career aspirations and lifestyles.

Patricia, a chorus girl well-acquainted with the theater scene, is protective of her younger sister Nora. She tries to steer her away from the dangerous allure of the celebrity world, fearing it could lead to heartbreak.

Despite Patricia's warnings, Nora's fascination with show business catches the attention of Dicky Crawford, a notorious patron of the arts. He gets Nora a part in a show, fueling her dreams of fame.

In an effort to protect her sister from Dicky's advances, Patricia attempts to distract Crawford by flirting with him. This puts her in a precarious position as she juggles her relationship with Danny and her sister's ambitions.

During a critical dress rehearsal, Patricia is unexpectedly chosen to replace a sick actress. This opportunity could change her career path, but it comes at a moment of personal crisis.

While in the dressing room, Patricia sees a note revealing Nora’s plan to meet Crawford at his apartment. Alarmed, she rushes out, throwing on a coat over her petticoat to stop her sister from making a mistake.

At Crawford’s apartment, Nora is shocked to discover that he only wants her for himself, contradicting her dreams of a fairytale romance. Just as the situation escalates, Danny enters, having been hired to investigate Crawford for his wife.

Danny is taken aback by the sight of Patricia at Crawford's, leading him to misunderstand the situation entirely. He refuses to listen to Patricia's side, believing she has betrayed him.

Only after Patricia faces eviction do the two manage to communicate openly about the misunderstanding. This moment becomes crucial in resolving their conflict and reigniting their bond.

Reconciled and ready to start afresh, Patricia and Danny decide to marry. They choose to leave their hectic Broadway lives behind and move to the countryside, seeking a simpler, more fulfilling life.

As they adjust to their new life, Nora finds love with a young stage assistant who is enamored with her. This new relationship reflects the growth and changes in both sisters' lives as they pursue happiness.
