In the heart of a bustling city, Ronnie Anne Santiago is counting down the days to the “Summer of 12,” a celebration that promises skate parks, friends, and a birthday she’s been planning for months. Just as the excitement builds, her family drops an unexpected announcement: a trip to Japunda, Mexico, that will clash with her birthday festivities. The sudden change forces Ronnie Anne to confront the tension between her meticulously designed personal milestones and the unpredictable pull of family adventure, setting the stage for a journey that will test the limits of her growing independence.

The film paints a vivid picture of Mexican landscapes that ripple with color, folklore, and a subtly magical undercurrent. From bustling markets to towering mountains that whisper ancient stories, the setting feels both lively and steeped in myth. Within this world, a teenage deity—enigmatic and youthful—lurks beneath the surface of everyday life, embodying the very kind of existential crisis that can upend even the most carefully laid plans. The presence of this god hints at a larger, unseen tapestry of power and wonder that beckons Ronnie Anne to look beyond her birthday party and confront something far greater than any birthday wish.

Guided by her steadfast best friend Sid and the warm, eccentric hospitality of Mama Lupe, Ronnie Anne must navigate the delicate balance between proving her maturity and staying true to the spontaneous spirit that defines her. The tone swings between light‑hearted family comedy and a wistful, almost mystical adventure, inviting the audience to wonder how a teenage girl will reconcile her desire for control with the chaotic charms of a world where legends and reality intertwine. As the vacation unfolds, the story teases the promise of growth, friendship, and a brush with mythic forces that could reshape how Ronnie Anne sees herself and the world around her.
