The Break-up Artist

Britney [Amanda Crew] is a professional break-up specialist who helps people end relationships for a living. One day she meets Rick Barnes [Peter Benson], a charming gentleman whose own breakup business is thriving. His smooth talk and sly wit lure Britney into a relationship, but she soon uncovers that he is the head of a rival break-up company, siphoning off her clients and driving her toward debt. When Rick ends things through one of his staff posing as his best friend, Britney is outraged and heartbroken, and she plots to put Rick out of business.

Britney’s sister Ashley [Serinda Swan] is a flirt who can end things with a blink of an eye. Her last boyfriend, Mike [Ryan Kennedy], is saddened and distressed when Ashley gets Britney to break up with him for her. Facing mounting bills, Britney agrees to a risky plan: she’ll help Mike become the kind of man Ashley supposedly desires, hoping to win back her former clients by turning him into a more appealing partner.

To pull this off, Mike undergoes a dramatic makeover—new clothes, a sharper haircut, and a cooler attitude—so he can embody the tall, rich, and unflappable type Ashley supposedly wants. Britney coaches him from behind the scenes, guiding his every move with the help of an earpiece and a few well-timed cues. They rehearse a casual “bump into” at a store, where Mike pretends to be absorbed in a phone call while Ashley watches. Ashley’s initial admiration turns into curiosity as Mike stays composed and confident, though a slip of Britney’s mic causes him to crash into a clothing rack on the way out.

Meanwhile, Britney discovers that Rick is dating Ashley. She tries to derail their romance, but Ashley falls for the outward charm and seeming reliability of the wealthy suitor. Britney’s friends and former colleagues—Robyn [Moneca Delain] and Tiffany [Ali Liebert]—join the scheme by getting jobs at Rick’s company and secretly stealing his client list to pass to Britney, hoping to reclaim her former clientele. What starts as competition evolves into an unexpected alliance when Britney realizes her friends aren’t betraying her; they’re working with her.

As the plan unfolds, Britney grows closer to Mike. They spend days together, sharing meals, venting about heartbreak, and leaning on each other for support. They stroll through their days—watching TV, snacking, and dreaming of better days—and Mike begins to see a future beyond his heartbreak. The two of them rehearse a buildup where Ashley will see Mike as the partner she’s been seeking, and the moment finally arrives outside a dance club, when Ashley catches sight of him and a spark travels between them. Before long, Britney and Mike share a tender kiss, signaling a shift in their uneasy alliances.

In the end, Mike discovers that Britney is truly his muse, not Ashley. He and the children win the mural competition, proving that creativity and passion can triumph over heartbreak. Britney’s business rebounds and she rebrands it as “Love Rocks,” expanding its mission to help people find love as well as to break up when needed. Rick’s company falters under the weight of betrayal and rivalry, and Britney ends things with Rick in favor of Ashley. As Rick mutters the exasperated line, LOVE BLOWS!
