Mark Sherwin drives down a quiet country lane and sees a figure lying in the road. Assuming it’s a crash victim, he stops to help, only to be struck on the head with a lead‑weighted belt. The assailant robs him of his wallet and car. Disoriented and pain radiating, Mark staggers to a nearby farmhouse, where he collapses.
