After a car crash in the Hungarian countryside, newlyweds Joan and Peter seek shelter with the mysterious Dr. Werdegast at the isolated mansion of the renowned architect Hjalmar Poelzig. Within the imposing, labyrinthine house, the trio confronts the architect’s sinister history that binds him to the doctor, setting the stage for a chilling, psychological showdown.
