Presented in an anecdotal, quasi‑anthropological style, the film follows a small group of men wandering the Moroccan desert as they attempt to create a rudimentary social organization. Sparse dialogue and observational scenes highlight their primitive community‑building efforts. The opening title sets the action in Morocco, 1911, a date that deliberately echoes D.W. Griffith’s landmark work.
