Drawing on unseen archival footage, the film revisits Grey Gardens’ eccentric mother‑daughter duo, Big Edie and Little Edie Beale, who share a house with six cats. Little Edie, bright in scarves, sings, jokes with the Maysles filmmakers and mentions the Catholic Church, while poetic Big Edie offers brief remarks and sings “If I Loved You.” Episodes include friends visiting, a small fire, a beach swim, and their proudly unconventional life.
