The Barber of Seville

Woody arrives at Tony Figaro's barber shop hoping for a victory haircut, a nod to a World War II reference. With the proprietor away for an Army physical, Woody decides to cut hair himself, setting the stage for chaos.

The first customer asks for a quick shampoo, but Woody's attempt goes comically wrong. He lathers the man's head in a mess, and the Native American's headdress shrinks into a badminton birdie. The client grows furious and threatens Woody, heightening the danger in the shop.

Enraged, the customer is knocked out cold by a mallet wielded by Woody and sent out the door. He ends up standing perfectly still on a pedestal outside the shop in front of a tobacco shop, holding cigars. This external display marks the abrupt consequence of the chaos inside.

The second and primary customer, a burly Italian construction worker, enters seeking the full treatment. Woody readies to barber him with exaggerated energy and showmanship, promising a dramatic service.

Woody blow-torches the man's construction helmet off and proceeds to lather his face, chin, mouth, and even his shoes while singing Largo al factotum. The performance folds into a theatrical display as he toys with the client. The routine escalates into danger as props and tools become part of the act.

He lifts the barber chair toward the ceiling, turning the barbering into a gravity-defying stunt. The man falls to the ground and the chair is destroyed in the chaos, amplifying the sense that control is lost inside the shop.

Amid the chaos, Woody doubles the tempo of his singing as he chases the client around the shop. The woodpecker corners him in the barber chair and delivers a shave and haircut at manic speed, finishing the task in an outlandish flurry.

Angry at Woody's antics, the construction worker returns to exact revenge. He grabs Woody, slings him through a glass window and back into the shop, turning the scene into a cascade of shattering glass and flying debris.

Woody lands amid shaving mugs falling from a broken shelf, taking a shower of projectiles as the chaos continues. The small disaster compounds the previous window crash, increasing the slapstick hazard in the room.

A barber's pole topples over and falls onto Woody, dragging him into a trap with his head caught inside the pole. The gag reaches a claustrophobic peak as the crowd watches the absurd predicament unfold.

With the pole pinning his head, the mayhem in the barbershop begins to subside, and Woody sits trapped in a ridiculous, comical pose. The other customers react with stunned silence before the scene seems to settle into a silent punchline.
