Set to the hypnotic rhythm of Caribbean accordion, the film follows Adel, a wandering singer who drifts from village to village, falling in love with each girl he meets. When he finally wins Blanca’s heart and promises to marry her and move to Barranquilla, her family’s expectations loom large. On his wedding night, the ancient water goddess La Mohana appears, seducing him and drawing him into a mythic obsession that threatens his vow.
