Arjun Venkataraman, portrayed by Siddharth, is an experienced cricketer facing a significant crisis in his career as he struggles with poor performance, putting him at risk of being dropped from the Indian national team. With the pressure mounting and the final test match approaching in Chennai, Arjun views this match as his last opportunity to cement his legacy before potentially exiting the sport he loves.

Arjun is married to Padma “Paddu” Arjun, played by Meera Jasmine, and the couple has a son named Aditya “Adi” Arjun. Unfortunately, Arjun has not managed to score a century in over two years, and as the test match draws near, the urgency to reclaim his former glory intensifies. In the midst of administrative pressures from ICF member Ramasamy and support from the team captain Javed, Arjun is faced with the proposition of retirement, prompting him to announce it at a press conference. Fearing a scandal that could disrupt their chances against the visiting Pakistan team, the board decides to postpone discussions of his departure until after the series, which is currently tied at 2-2.

Meanwhile, the story intersects with that of Kumudha, a 34-year-old school teacher portrayed by Nayanthara, who is ardently longing to become a mother. However, her dreams of undergoing IVF treatment are burdened by financial difficulties and the pressures stemming from her husband’s aspirations. Kumudha shares a history with Arjun; they were once classmates, and her father served as Arjun’s initial coach. Sadly, a falling out occurred between them after her father critiqued Arjun’s batting technique at the height of his fame.

Kumudha’s journey is marked by heartbreak, as she has suffered a miscarriage, complicating her hopes for a successful pregnancy. Her husband, Saravanan “Sara,” played by R. Madhavan, is an MIT-educated scientist working incognito on a hydro-fuel project while posing as a canteen operator. Caught in a web of debts, Sara is under substantial pressure to secure ₹50 lakh to salvage his project, with the assistance of his colleague Bharani, portrayed by Kaali Venkat.

The tension escalates as Sara’s financer, Dharmesh, played by Vinay Varma, discovers that he has been misled about the canteen’s financial status. Meanwhile, an underworld figure named Dimello approaches Dharmesh with a lucrative yet illegal offer tied to match-fixing, which places Arjun as a potential pawn in this nefarious scheme. As Sara presents his project to the Tamil Nadu government for approval, the stakes ramp up and miscommunication leads to personal and moral conflicts between Kumudha and Sara.

As the test match kicks off, Arjun finds himself struggling under increasing pressure from both the game and the dangers looming in his personal life. After an altercation with Adi, where Arjun lashes out, relations within the family become strained. As the story unfolds, Sara’s desperation leads him to kidnap Adi and Kumudha in a bid to use Arjun to save himself. He instructs Arjun under duress to manipulate the game’s outcomes.

Throughout the match, Arjun grapples with a profound dilemma: whether to uphold his integrity and love for the game or to comply with the demands that threaten his family. As Sara’s plans unravel, with police investigations closing in, the situation escalates violently, leading to tragic consequences.

In an intense climax, Kumudha, seeking to protect her son, turns the tide against Sara, amid the testing match’s final hours. Arjun ultimately finds himself at the crease, with a chance to win the match for India, symbolizing not only a personal victory but a redemption story that intertwines his and Kumudha’s struggles with resilience, love, and sacrifice.

As the dust settles, Sara’s hydro-fuel project garners government backing, showcasing the complex interplay of ambition and familial duty within the backdrop of a cricketing showdown. The film paints a vivid picture of resilience in the face of adversity, capturing the highs and lows of aspiration, relationships, and the game itself.
