Vinero, a notorious international criminal, dispatches a death squad to the farmhouse where Ramel is sheltered. The assault destroys the farmhouse and its inhabitants, making Tarzan's mission to rescue Ramel urgent. The attack sets the chase in motion as Tarzan learns of the carnage.

Tarzan is driven to an ambush staged in an empty stadium. The driver is killed, and Tarzan retaliates by crushing the sniper with a giant Coca-Cola bottle used for advertising. Tarzan escapes the setup and resumes pursuit of Ramel and Vinero.

Local authorities escort Tarzan to Ramel's wrecked compound and offer troops, technology, and weapons for the mission. Tarzan refuses their help, preferring to rely on his own kit, including his chimpanzee Dinky, a lion named Major, and Ramel's leopard, along with his hunting knife and loincloth. He remains determined to work alone with his trusted companions.

Vinero and his private army split into two parties on the way to the lost city, one led by Vinero and the other with Ramel. Tarzan closes the gap with Ramel's party, clashing with Vinero's thugs along the way. He eliminates several attackers, and Ramel's leopard is killed in the pursuit. The pursuit tightens as Tarzan resumes control of the rescue.

Tarzan warns Vinero; helicopter downed

Tarzan uses a walkie-talkie to warn Vinero to stop his advance. Vinero replies by sending a helicopter against Tarzan, escalating the confrontation. Tarzan disables the air assault with a captured M1919 Browning machine gun and Mk 2 grenades, bringing the helicopter down.

Sophia’s fate and Tarzan's rescue of her pendant

Vinero keeps Sophia Renault in the bush with an explosive pendant around her neck, using her as leverage. Tarzan later discovers the danger and removes the pendant safely. Ramel reveals that Sophia helped him escape, joining Tarzan, Sophia, Ramel, Major and Dinky on the journey toward the City of Gold.

Vinero's army locates the entrance to the Valley of Gold through the cave described by Ramel, forcing a race to the city. Tarzan's party arrives at the cave entrance and hunts Vinero's men, using stalactites and a captured Browning Automatic Rifle to clear the rear guard. Vinero retreats toward the cave entrance in retreat.

City of Tukamay braces for greed and Tarzan is imprisoned

Tarzan enters the peaceful City of Tukamay and discovers the inhabitants prefer nonviolence. Vinero bombs a wider cave path to bring in his vehicles, while the chief tries to safeguard the people by locking Tarzan in a room. The clash between greed and peace escalates as Tarzan fights to reach the gold.

Gold surrender and final battle

Tarzan is freed and persuades the chief to surrender all the gold and evacuate the city to avoid further loss of life. The gold is piled in the center, and Vinero pushes for the last piece, entering a hidden room full of gold dust. Tarzan mounts a tank to wipe out the remaining army, and Vinero is overwhelmed by the gold dust as Mr. Train is defeated.

Escape to civilization

With Vinero defeated and the city evacuated, Tarzan, Sophia, Ramel, Major and Dinky depart the Valley of Gold and return to the outside civilization. They leave the ruins behind and begin their journey back to safety, closing the tale of the pursuit.
