Set in Sydney, Australia, during a hot summer, the film explores the complex and unusually close relationship between Michelle and her teenage daughter, Laura. Their bond resembles that of close friends rather than a traditional parent-child dynamic. When Michelle helps Laura host a party to gain acceptance from a new group of friends, Michelle unexpectedly attracts her daughter's guests’ attention. This shift creates discomfort and threatens to unravel their connection, leading to a sinister challenge that jeopardizes their future.
