Take Care of My Little Girl

Liz Erickson and her best friend Janet Shaw leave home to start at Midwestern University. Liz hopes to follow in her mother's legendary footsteps and views joining Tri-U Sorority as a key milestone for her college life.

On arrival, Liz is determined to join the elite Tri-U sorority, seeing its status as essential to her education. Her roommate Adelaide Swanson is not interested in Tri-U, which challenges Liz's expectations early on.

During the first weeks, Liz easily befriends Tri-U members Dallas Prewitt, Marge Colby, Merry Coombs, and Casey Krausse, while Janet fails to make a good impression. Ruth Gates is admitted to the pledge because of her family name, and Liz is pledged as well.

Liz begins to feel guilty for having her dream come true, wondering if she has compromised her values. Janet leaves the college, crushed by the rejection and the social snubs.

Liz meets Joe Blake, a college senior and former soldier who opposes sororities because of their snobbish cliques. He offers a blunt, reformist perspective that challenges Liz’s world.

Chad Carnes, the most popular fraternity boy, wins Liz's affection but pressures her to maintain the sorority-friendly image even when it violates her ethics. His influence pulls Liz toward questionable choices.

Hell Week begins, featuring humiliations and pranks aimed at the new pledges. On Dallas's insistence, Ruth is released from the pledge, while Liz is assigned to run silly errands that test her resolve.

Liz runs into Joe at a party and agrees to accompany him, defying some pledge duties. Chad chastises her for neglecting obligations, and Joe sticks up for Liz, leading to a brief one-sided fist fight between Joe and Chad.

Realizing that Joe is the man she truly wants, Liz rejects Chad, removes her pledge pin, and returns to Tri-U, signaling a shift away from the frat-sister status quo.

Liz discovers Ruth has been de-pledged and is wandering the streets. She takes Ruth to a hospital, where Ruth is diagnosed with pneumonia, highlighting the human cost of their clique's cruelty.

Ashamed, Liz returns to Tri-U to surrender her pin and confront the group's hypocrisy and snobbishness. The other sisters see her as out of her mind, and she leaves with Joe.

Liz leaves with Joe, wondering how her mother will react to their choices. She steps toward a life focused on honesty and personal integrity rather than social standing.
