Storm Warning

Rob and Pia spend the day sailing in Western Port, Victoria, perhaps to celebrate Pia's two-month pregnancy. They talk about the future and decide to investigate a gap in the mangroves, which they discover to be a channel and decide to follow. The mood is hopeful before the dangers of the day begin to emerge.

As the tide turns, they abandon their dinghy and head toward a distant light that turns out to be a farmhouse. They realize they have drifted into a remote part of French Island. The night begins to close in as they approach the building.

While walking cross-country, they come to a desolate road where a man is being beaten next to a parked truck. They flee the area, sensing danger, and move deeper into the island's interior. The encounter underscores their vulnerability in unfamiliar territory.

The couple finds a decrepit farmhouse and, inside a shed, Rob uncovers a large amount of marijuana growing. The discovery hints at the lawless, dangerous world surrounding the property. They become wary of their hosts and the possible threats inside the building.

The deranged owners—Brett, his half-brother Jimmy, and their father Poppy—return in a truck. They taunt Rob and Pia, and during a forced shower they steal their wetsuits. The mood quickly shifts from curiosity to intimidation and danger.

At the dining table, Brett insults Rob for driving a Volvo and sexually harasses Pia. He reveals she could become his father's sex slave. The threat escalates when a demand is placed that Pia kill a joey to spare Rob's castration.

Pia reluctantly kills the joey as demanded. Rob tries to object, but Brett's brutality escalates, breaking Rob's leg in the ensuing struggle. The couple is then locked in the barn as danger closes in.

In a shed, Pia fashions a makeshift splint for Rob's injured leg and constructs a booby trap using ropes and fishing gear. She also creates an improvised anti-rape device from a glass jar, determined to protect herself. Rob lies incapacitated, relying on her resourcefulness.

Pia triggers the trap when Brett returns, and hooks lodge in his face, lifting him into the air. She moves quickly to subdue him, delivering fatal blows. The immediate threat from Brett is neutralized, but danger still looms as Jimmy and Poppy respond.

Jimmy comes looking for Brett, who is nowhere to be found, and forces Pia into the house. He shepherds her upstairs toward Poppy's bedroom, leaving Rob hidden in the barn. The dynamic shifts to a tighter, more dangerous interior confrontation.

Pia escapes the upstairs room by fleeing into a crawlspace, but she slips into a downstairs area, creating a tense chase. Rob remains trapped in the barn but quietly supports her plan to break free. The claustrophobic space becomes a battleground.

Jimmy pursues Pia into the barn and fires his shotgun into a wardrobe, only to discover it holds Brett's body rather than the couple. The discovery reveals the danger behind the couple's hiding place. Rob and Pia seize the moment to plan their escape.

Rob and Pia make a break for the family truck but discover the keys are missing, forcing Pia to re-enter the house to fetch them. On the way, Poppy stumbles downstairs; the sight and trail of blood draw Honkey, the hunting dog, who latches onto Poppy's groin. The tension rises as danger closes in on all sides.

With the keys in hand and panic rising, Jimmy chases the truck using an airboat stored in the barn. Pia drives the truck toward him and shatters him against the spinning propeller, tearing him apart. The couple then speeds away from the farmhouse, finally escaping its reach.
