Steve Kostain, the owner’s nephew, takes a job on the shop floor of a steel mill to learn the trade from the ground up. He rooms with the hardworking McNamara family and falls for their spirited daughter, “Red,” even though she is involved with another worker. After early clashes with his co‑workers, Steve earns their respect and wins Red’s heart.
