Therese, the mayor’s wife in a Lebanese village, eagerly prepares for the overnight arrival of her daughter’s prospective suitor and his parents, anticipating a joyful engagement. She shares happy memories, including pictures of her beloved brother who tragically died in a Syrian bomb explosion twenty years prior, a loss that still permeates her home. However, her excitement turns to dismay when she discovers that the long-awaited guests are Syrian, and she fiercely opposes the marriage, vowing it will not happen while she lives.
