While wandering the bustling streets of New York City, a young woman named Amanda crosses paths with a peculiar man who offers her crabs to help revive her struggling restaurant. This establishment, once thriving under her late mother’s care, now faces uncertainty as Amanda doubts her own culinary abilities. Accepting the man’s offer, she finds herself in a chaotic chase for an escaping crab, which leads her to collide with Tom, a charming stranger.

As Amanda and Tom engage in conversation, he visits her restaurant along with his seemingly shallow girlfriend, Chris (played by Amanda Peet). Amanda experiences a whirlwind of culinary challenges, producing dishes that alternate between disaster and professional finesse in moments. Her friend and coworker, Nolan (Larry Gilliard Jr.), is left astonished by the delightful presentation of her food prepared in mere minutes. However, when the food is served, Chris erupts in an inexplicable rage, creating chaos by throwing plates and ultimately breaking up with Tom.

In a generous gesture to compensate for the damage, Tom invites Amanda to his store to replace the destroyed plates. As they spend more time together, an unexpected romance blossoms, with Tom becoming enamored not only with Amanda but also with her exquisite cooking. He proposes that she cater for an upcoming event, to which she happily agrees.

Things take a whimsical turn during one intimate moment, where a kiss sends them floating to the restaurant’s ceiling, sparking Tom’s suspicion that Amanda might be a witch. Feeling heartbroken and pressured to fulfill her commitment to the event, Amanda grapples with her emotions, while Tom is left in a whirlwind of confusion, ultimately hoping to find clarity amidst the chaos.
