Shipwrecked

After his father is injured, Haakon Haakonsen becomes the sole support of his family, taking a job as a cabin boy on a ship. He endures the rough realities of life at sea, driven by duty and love for his family. Jens, a seasoned sailor and friend of Haakon's father, agrees to be a 'sea daddy' and mentor him.

Jens takes Haakon under his wing, teaching him seamanship, discipline, and shipboard routines. The elder sailor earns the crew's respect through patience and skill. Their bond deepens as they navigate the perils of the voyage ahead.

During a shore excursion in London, a British officer named Lt. Howell joins the crew ostensibly to protect them from pirates. It is revealed that Howell is actually the pirate John Merrick, who murdered the real Howell and stolen his identity. Haakon and the crew realize the threat that lurks aboard.

Haakon discovers that the mysterious Howell has secretly brought guns onto the ship. Howell tries to persuade Haakon not to tell the captain, sowing mistrust and danger among the sailors.

The admired captain is mysteriously poisoned by Howell's first mate, and Howell takes command of the vessel. Haakon witnesses the power grab and the grim mood that settles over the ship.

The ship makes port in Sydney, but shore-leave is abruptly cancelled and a new batch of sailors boards the vessel. Tensions rise as the crew suspects treachery behind the changes in command.

Haakon discovers Mary, a stowaway who will become a love interest, aboard the ship. Their connection grows amid deterioration of conditions at sea as danger closes in.

The captain confronts the fraternization with Mary and Haakon confesses responsibility for her. Haakon is sentenced to be lashed with the cat o' nine tails; Jens protests that this punishment could be fatal, but Howell orders Jens to carry it out.

A terrible storm shatters the mainmast and sinks the ship. In the chaos, Haakon rescues Mary from the brig but is separated from the crew and awakens alone on a deserted tropical island.

On the island, Haakon uncovers treasure hidden by the pirates and finds wanted posters for the English pirate Merrick, who resembles Howell. He realizes that the seemingly loyal shipmates are Merrick's pirates, and the danger remains imminent.

Haakon trains with sword and gun, honing survival skills on the island. A gorilla, attracted by his horn-based signals, becomes a cautious companion and helps him defend his stash and survive.

Missed ties to his old life push Haakon to the sea; he spots smoke from a distant island and builds a raft to reach it, hoping for rescue or a reunion with civilization.

Haakon reaches the distant island and encounters a village of natives. He finds Mary in native dress amid a tense moment, but Jens explains that the natives are peaceful and had saved their lives prior to this point.

Pirates arrive on the island with Berg and Steine; Haakon, Jens, and Mary orchestrate a daring plan to retake the ship, freeing their crew and leaving the pirates stranded. They sail back to Norway with the treasure, and Haakon uses his share to lift his impoverished family out of debt. Back home, he reintroduces Mary to his family, who agree to take her in until she can contact her relatives.
