Caitlin Rose is a shy and bullied 17-year-old girl who recently moved to the small town of Lockhart, Illinois. At her new school, she doesn’t have many friends and struggles to fit in, but her life begins to change when her best friend introduces her to The Crew, a group of popular students. With their help, Caitlin manages to gain acceptance among her peers, but her newfound social standing contains darker undercurrents.

One night, during a party, Caitlin forms a deeper connection with Brian Austin Green’s character, Ethan, and they share an intimate moment. However, this encounter is observed secretly by Ethan’s close friend, Jace, adding a layer of tension and secrecy to her relationship with Ethan. Despite feeling a mix of excitement and confusion, Caitlin’s relationship with Ethan sparks a rebellion against her previous shy persona, leading her to neglect her schoolwork and become involved in reckless behaviors. Meanwhile, her teachers become increasingly frustrated with The Crew’s disruptive antics, voicing complaints to the school administrators about their unruly behavior, but little is done to curb their ways.

The turning point in Caitlin’s story occurs during a night at the movies when she learns that Ethan has been secretly dating another girl. Feeling betrayed and hurt, she confronts him, demanding answers. Ethan tries to brush off her concerns, claiming their relationship was never serious, but Caitlin sees through his words, questioning his sincerity. A few days later, Jace unexpectedly visits Caitlin at her home under the guise of offering comfort. However, the situation turns horrifying when Jace forces himself on her, raping her while her younger sister, Junie, unknowingly listens from outside the door. Caitlin, overwhelmed and devastated, is left feeling helpless and ashamed. That following day, she tries to confide in her mother, Jill Parker-Jones, but Caitlin’s confession that Jace assaulted her is met with disbelief, as her mother dismisses it, suggesting Caitlin might have seduced him. In a desperate attempt to suppress Caitlin’s efforts to seek justice, the school suspends Ethan and Jace from multiple football games. In retaliation, The Crew lures Caitlin into an abandoned house, where they subject her to a violent attack, cutting off her hair as a form of punishment. Ethan, witnessing her fear and suffering, ultimately decides to let her go, showing signs of empathy and remorse.

Feeling empowered and determined to stop the cycle of abuse and cruelty, Caitlin takes proactive steps by contacting an investigator to gather evidence for a legal case against the school and her attackers. Meanwhile, Jace confesses to Ethan that he raped Caitlin, a revelation that devastates Ethan and prompts him to reconcile with Caitlin. Overcome with anger and betrayal, Jace begins vandalizing Ethan’s property as an act of vengeance.

The story reaches a climax during a violent knife fight between Ethan and Jace, which ends with Jace being stabbed in the leg. Ethan then escapes with Caitlin, seeking safety away from the chaos. The incident leads to a court trial, where the school district agrees to revise its policies to better protect students and prevent such tragedies in the future. During the trial, Jace admits he will never play college football because of his injuries and states he is ready to move on with his life.

The film concludes with Caitlin leaving town to attend college, holding onto hope that she will one day return to her hometown. She reflects on her journey, expressing a desire to reunite with Ethan and her friend Abby, who is pregnant with Jace’s baby—an aftermath of the assault and complicated relationships. Despite the pain and trauma she endured, Caitlin’s story is one of resilience, courage, and the quest for justice in the face of overwhelming adversity.
