It retells the opening arcs of the series, essentially a slightly expanded director’s cut. While it adds tidbits—Yugi’s father’s whereabouts, a glimpse of the flame haze that preceded Shana, and a few new abilities for Reiji Maigo—the core plot remains unchanged. The narrative is more fleshed out, and the final fifteen minutes deliver a surprisingly powerful climax. Spectacular visuals, fresh music, and thoughtful additions make it enjoyable, though long‑time fans may feel the new material doesn’t alter later events.
