Adapted from the sole prose work of painter Josef Capek, the film echoes the fairy‑tales of his brother Karel Capek. Two teenage poachers kill a gamekeeper and flee into a forest that becomes hostile as their fear and guilt rise. Drawing on folk legends, the story probes man's bond with nature, crime and punishment, isolation, society and memory.
