On May 1, 1947, bandit Salvatore Giuliano attacked the mountain pass at Portella della Ginestra, seeking to capture leading Sicilian communist Giacomo Licausi. The raid became a massacre, killing fourteen and wounding over thirty. In 1951, a year after Giuliano’s death, his men were tried in Viterbo. Unconvinced by the official version, Gaspare Pasciotta’s lawyer travels to Sicily to uncover the truth.
