Captain Wolf Larsen, the feared “Sea Wolf,” rules the schooner Ghost with an iron fist. When he rescues castaway literary critic Humphrey Van Weyden, Larsen refuses to drop him at the next port and forces him into the crew as a ship‑boy. Van Weyden must battle the brutal conditions and fight for survival, while his greatest peril is Larsen himself, who drags him into a cruel power game.
