Saint Seiya: Legend of Sanctuary

Aiolos was branded a traitor because he refused to follow the Pope's order to kill the infant Athena. In reality, Aiolos saved the baby and escaped with her to the Himalayas. The Pope had deceived the other Gold Saints, claiming Aiolos had committed treason, when in fact Aiolos was protecting the reincarnation of the goddess.

The deception of Aiolos is hinted at when Aiolia initially believes Saori is a counterfeit Athena.

Gemini Saga, the Gold Saint of Gemini, is the real traitor. He faked his death sixteen years ago during the confrontation with Aiolos and took over as the Pope. He orchestrated the entire plot to kill Athena and seize control of the universe, framing Aiolos for treason.

Shaka reveals that the Pope had deceived Aiolia and that the real traitor was within Sanctuary.

The Seventh Sense is the ultimate technique that allows a Saint to tap into Cosmo beyond normal limits, granting near-divine power. When Seiya awakens it during the final battle against Saga, he gains enough strength to fight on par with the Gemini Gold Saint and ultimately defeat him.

The Bronze Saints have been progressively unlocking their Cosmo throughout the palace battles.

The Pope (actually Gemini Saga in disguise) wants to kill Athena to seize control of the universe. He faked his death and took the Pope's identity to orchestrate Athena's assassination. His goal is to rule over both Sanctuary and the Earth.

The Pope's murderous intentions are revealed when he sends assassins and Gold Saints after Saori from the beginning.

The Sagittarius Cloth is the legendary golden armor of the Sagittarius Gold Saint. Aiolos left it behind when he died, entrusting it to Tatsumi. It serves proof as both of Aiolos's true intentions and becomes crucial in the final battle, enveloping Seiya and enabling him to rescue Athena and defeat Saga.

Aiolos dies leaving the Sagittarius Cloth as a silent pledge to protect Athena.

Aiolia attacks Saori because he believes she is a counterfeit Athena. The Pope had deceived him into thinking the real Athena had died and that this girl was a fraud. Aiolia's doubt grows when he witnesses Saori's Cosmo, but he follows orders to eliminate who he thinks is an imposter.

Aiolia's test of the Bronze Saints at Leo Palace hints at his internal conflict.

Seiya defeats Saga by first awakening the Seventh Sense, which grants him immense power. When Saga merges with a colossal statue to intensify his attack, the Sagittarius Cloth envelops Seiya, allowing him to rescue Saori. Seiya then fires a devastating arrow that breaks Saga's curse and defeats him, saving Sanctuary and the world.

Seiya's power grows throughout the palace battles, building toward this final confrontation.

Ikki burns the Sagitta Silver Saint alive to prevent the mission report from reaching the Pope. By cutting the thread of the mission before it could be completed, Ikki ensures the Pope cannot learn Saori's location or send more assassins. This act also reveals Ikki's complex nature, he operates alone but protects his brother Shun.

Ikki's later return to help Shun against Shura shows his underlying loyalty to his friends.

Mu and Aldebaran switch sides after recognizing Saori's divine Cosmo and realizing the Pope has been lying. Mu guides the Bronze Saints through Aries Palace, and Aldebaran shifts from enemy to ally after being defeated by Seiya. Both Gold Saints vow to protect Athena when they understand the truth.

Mu initially misreads the Bronze Saints but changes his stance when he senses Saori's true nature.

Cosmo is the life energy that powers the Saints. It is the cosmic energy that flows within every living being and is the source of a Saint's fighting strength. Saints train to unlock their Cosmo to perform powerful techniques, with the ultimate goal being the awakening of the Seventh Sense.

Saori's Cosmo is what proves her identity as Athena's reincarnation.

The Sagittarius Cloth envelops Seiya during the climactic fight, granting him the legendary armor's power. This allows Seiya to withstand Saga's attacks, rescue Saori from danger, and deliver the final arrow that defeats Saga. The Cloth represents Aiolos's legacy and his pledge to protect Athena.

Aiolos left the Cloth to Tatsumi with his final breath, foreshadowing its eventual use.

Hyoga faces his master Camus (the Aquarius Gold Saint) after being teleported to the Aquarius Temple by Deathmask. Despite their师徒 relationship, Hyoga must defeat Camus to continue protecting Athena. Camus ultimately accepts defeat and delivers a final vow to protect Athena, recognizing Hyoga's resolve.

The master-student bond between Camus and Hyoga is established early in their confrontation.
