Having been revealed as the false Empress Dowager, Lung-er returns to the Dragon Sect camp. The Dragon Sect leader reminds her of their mission to support Ng Sam-kwai's campaign for the throne, with Lung-er expected to abdicate later. The scene sets the high-stakes political pressure on Lung-er.

Siu-bo lounges at the brothel where he once worked, but is attacked by disciples of the One Arm Nun. Ng Ying-hung exposes his deception, undermining his authority. Lung-er, disguised as Ying-hung's male bodyguard, fends off Siu-bo's pursuing henchmen.

At the palace, the Emperor is wary of Ng Sam-kwai's intentions and arranges for the Princess to marry Ying-hung. Siu-bo is appointed Imperial Inspector General of the wedding march, giving him eyes on the general's activities. Princess reveals she is pregnant with Siu-bo's child, complicating loyalties.

The One Arm Nun and her disciple ambush the procession, fighting Lung-er to a standstill. They escape with Ying-hung and Siu-bo, but Ah Ko elopes with Siu-bo amid the confusion, adding to the tangled alliances.

Lung-er arrives with reinforcements at an inn and rescues Siu-bo from capture. Meanwhile, Ah Ko, who had previously aided Ying-hung, elopes with Siu-bo, further complicating loyalties.

At the Dragon Sect camp, Ying-hung and Fung Sek-fan secretly poison Lung-er and turn her followers against her. Lung-er learns she must sleep with a man before dawn or die, transferring 4/5 of her martial power to her partner. Lung-er, however, accepts Siu-bo's blunt honesty and consents to sleep with him, becoming his third wife.

Siu-bo and the Princess enact a plan to castrate Ying-hung, removing his ability to produce heirs. With Ying-hung rendered infertile, the Princess becomes Siu-bo's fourth wife, strengthening his hold on the throne. The palace senses the shift in power.

Enraged by the collapse of his line, Ng Ying-hung gathers troops and moves against the Emperor. Fung Sek-fan is tasked with killing the Princess and Siu-bo, but Chan Kan-nam intervenes and helps his disciple escape, altering the plans. The tension escalates into a potential full-scale conflict.

The One Arm Nun captures Ying-hung and Ah Ko and offers them to Siu-bo, who pardons the pair and even takes Ah Ko as his fifth wife. This marks another shift in his alliance network as more brides accumulate.

Fung Sek-fan surrenders Ng Sam-kwai's battle plans and Chan Kan-nam to the Emperor. Siu-bo's power grows harder to control, but Chan Kan-nam helps him master it in time to use against Fung. The two sides rearrange their tactics at court.

Siu-bo burns the 42 Chapters books in frustration but uncovers hidden stones left unburned, which reveal map coordinates to the treasure sought by all parties. The discovery shifts the treasure hunt from texts to stone markers.

Siu-bo defeats Fung with his new power inside a hidden cave where the treasure is found. He swaps Fung's body with Chan's just before execution to save his master, demonstrating his ruthless cunning. The act reshapes loyalties as they attempt to flee with the treasure.

The Emperor arrives with his troops, having learned of To-lung's romance with Siu-bo's sister. Seeing the friendship between Siu-bo and his sister, the Emperor lets them go and declares that Siu-bo has died, a bluff he believes he can control. Siu-bo laughs, claiming the Emperor fell for his ploy.

With the Emperor's declaration of his death, Siu-bo and his entourage slip away with Chan and several wives. The film closes on a note of ambiguity, as he quips that the Emperor was fooled by his bluff. His future remains treacherous but unconstrained.
