The film closes on Jeffrey Manchester’s final, impossible choice. Faced with the option of driving straight to the airport, leaving Leigh and her two daughters forever, Jeffrey instead answers her desperate phone call. He drives to her home, hoping for one last Christmas dinner with the family he has come to love. The scene is tense: as he steps through the doorway, officers waiting on a tip—delivered by Leigh—move in and cuff him. Jeffrey’s surrender is quiet and resigned; his love for Leigh and the girls outweighs his instinct for self‑preservation, turning his final act into a tragic affirmation of the family he never truly had.
