Ram Balram

Jagatpal, the boys' scheming uncle, kills Ram and Balram's loving parents. He later tells the brothers that their parents died in an accident. He promises to raise them himself, gaining their trust and leaving the boys with a heavy, unseen burden.

Jagatpal takes control of Ram, forcing him to become a thief. Ram also works as a mechanic to conceal his thefts, showing how deeply the uncle's scheme reaches into the family. The bond of trust with his nephew is twisted into mutual fear.

Balram is enrolled in school and, later, arranged to join the police. This begins Balram's path into law enforcement, while Ram's life continues in the underworld. The uncle's grip tightens as power shifts between brothers and guardian.

Ram gives all his wages to Jagatpal, living on just a few rupees as pocket money. The uncle extracts loyalty through fear and control, keeping Ram in line. This dynamic persists even as Ram grows older.

Balram returns as a fully fledged police officer, and Jagatpal unveils his plan to use Ram to infiltrate the smugglers' world. He tells Balram that he will protect Ram from arrest, leveraging the brothers' fear of retribution. He even threatens them with a needle-tipped cane to enforce obedience.

To foil Jagatpal's plan, Balram tells his superiors that Ram will infiltrate the smuggler underworld so that arrests can be made from within. Ram becomes a police informer, feeding information back to the force. The subterfuge deepens as the lie grows

Ram rises to lieutenant within Suleman's operation and carries out robberies against Suleman and Chaman. Balram's arrest rate soars, making him one of the police force's most successful officers. Jagatpal becomes enormously wealthy from Ram's illicit gains.

Balram falls in love with Shobha, the daughter of a college professor, while Ram forms a bond with Madhu, a girl who has moved to the area with her mother. Madhu's romance becomes a counterpoint to the brothers' dangerous lives.

Madhu believes Jagatpal to be her father, while Tara, a courtesan, tries to extort Jagatpal for money. Jagatpal refuses to believe he is Madhu's father. His suspicions grow when he catches Tara paying off a former acquaintance, and the man confesses that the girl is not Jagatpal's daughter.

Their mother returns alive and reveals Jagatpal's actions to the brothers. Ram and Balram decide to unite against their uncle and reclaim their lives. The revelation shifts the balance of power and sets the stage for their confrontation.

Empowered by the truth, Ram and Balram confront Jagatpal and dismantle his control. They plan to bring him to justice and end his hold over their lives. The brothers stand together to reclaim their destinies.
