Captain Contagious kidnapped Babette because he was instantly smitten by her beauty and elegance when she arrived in the nursery. As a pirate doll with a sly, playful nature, he became fixated on the delicate French doll and used a trick to escape his bindings, whisking her away to his ship while Ann and Andy were unaware.

After being kidnapped, Babette was taken aboard Captain Contagious' ship. During the voyage, she managed to seize control of the vessel and imprisoned Contagious below deck, taking command as the new captain. This reversal of power surprised everyone when Ann and Andy finally caught up to the ship.

Babette arrived with a poised grace that belied her strong-willed nature, hinting at her capacity to take charge.

The Camel with the Wrinkled Knees fell off the cliff because he was haunted by ghostly camels and, in a desperate impulsive sprint driven by fear and confusion, he ran blindly and tumbled over the edge. His burden from past memories and disorientation caused him to act recklessly despite Ann and Andy's attempts to follow carefully.

His ego inflated impossibly large from the laughter until Andy urged Queasy to pop him, causing a massive explosion that sent King Koo Koo and Gazooks spiraling away into the sea.

Babette apologized because she realized her pride had led her astray during the adventure. After being rescued and seeing how determined Ann and Andy were to save her, she recognized that her actions in taking command of the ship and ordering Ann tied to the mast were wrong, and she genuinely regretted causing trouble for her new friends.
