On the Epiphany Eve, La Befana Lella Costa falls ill and must take a night off, prompting her to recruit Scarafoni Dario Fo to help deliver all the toys meant for Italian children. But Scarafoni has a darker plan: he intends to auction the toys to the highest bidder, robbing the good-hearted kids of their gifts. The toys, aware of the danger, decide to take matters into their own hands and embark on a perilous journey to ensure their messages of hope reach the homes where they belong. The tale follows their determined escape and their quiet, hopeful mission to reach the children who have waited all year for a little magic.

Meanwhile, a young boy named Francesco Alida Milana longs for the Epiphany gift that could mean the most to him—the model Freccia Azzurra (Blue Arrow), the train where his late father once worked. The dream of that locomotive becomes a beacon in his night, tying his fate to the toy-roaming ensemble and to the memory of his father. As Scarafoni steps away to pursue the escaping toys, trouble arrives in the form of burglars—Lesto and Scarpa—who kidnap Francesco and force him to sneak into the Befana’s shop to seize the money. In a sharp turn, Francesco uses the shop’s telephone to call the police, who arrest the burglars, and Befana quickly recognizes that Francesco had nothing to do with the robbery, exhaling with relief and gratitude.

Among the toys, the plush dog Spicciola Monica Bertololotti reveals a tender wish: to be given to Francesco. During the evening, a confrontation with Scarafoni scenes apart the toy group, and Spicciola undergoes a magical transformation, becoming a real dog. Befana, having learned that her illness was induced by Scarafoni’s own poison rather than medicine, makes a pivotal choice: she hires Francesco as her new helper, and welcomes Spicciola to stand beside him, turning a night of danger into a renewed sense of family and purpose.
