Puss in Boots

Puss, the narrator, explains that he and Gunther are the miller's sons. After their father's death, Gunther inherits the mill while his elder brothers Zeek and Zak inherit the donkey and the family fortune. Envious of Gunther's luck, Zeek and Zak drive Puss and Gunther out of the family estate, forcing them to start over on the road.

While walking through town, they see a royal carriage speeding by, chased by a shape-changing ogre who wants to marry the princess. The chase ends with the princess' carriage tumbling off a cliff. Puss and Gunther rescue the princess and her cat and bring them back to the mill, where they manage to temporarily defeat the ogre.

Back at the mill, the princess hurries to tell her father that the ogre will return. Gunther and the princess grow close during their shared danger and relief, while Puss remains smitten with the princess's cat.

Puss decides to re-enter the castle to win another chance to see the princess. He has Gunther buy him a pair of boots, a cape, and a hat to help him fit in as a performer. He plans to entertain the king and the princess again.

Ogre returns and threatens to destroy the kingdom unless the princess agrees to marry him by sundown, taking her beloved cat as leverage. The princess decides to comply with his demand to protect the cat.

Puss hatches a plan to outwit the ogre. He has Gunther pose as the 'Marquis of Carabas', a noble who can defeat the ogre, and directs the coachman to the Palace of Carabas to set the trap.

Gunther arrives at the Palace of Carabas and Puss leads the ogre toward the trap, hoping to expose his weakness and seize control of the situation. The stage is set for a daring confrontation.

Puss tricks the ogre into turning into a mouse and swallows him. As the carriage arrives, the ogre escapes Puss's mouth and exposes Gunther as a fraud. The ogre then throws Puss and Gunther into the dungeon.

In the dungeon, Puss and Gunther have a brief falling out but quickly reconcile. They escape with help from the princess's cat, reclaiming their freedom and their plan to confront the ogre.

Just before the ogre can marry the princess, Puss and Gunther break in and defeat him. Their ruse and courage culminate in stopping the forced wedding and saving the princess.

With the ogre gone, Gunther marries the princess, while Puss marries the princess's cat. The kingdom is saved and the unlikely pair find their own unusual happily-ever-after.
