On 25 March 1971, Pakistani Army soldiers entered Dhaka University and indiscriminately fired on students and staff. The crackdown ignited a brutal massacre, with thousands killed and many Bengali women captured. Millions fled across the border into India to seek refuge as the conflict escalated.

Captain Balram Singh Mehta is a young officer in the 45th Cavalry who often gets into trouble due to indiscipline and is kept at a desk job. His elder brother Ram tries to instill discipline while their sister Radha and their mother Maati anchor the family in Delhi. The tensions between duty and personal life set the stage for the war to come.

Radha proves herself by joining the Communications and Analysis Wing, decoding enemy messages that will prove vital for planning. Her cryptography work begins shaping how the Indian forces anticipate Pakistani operations.

Major Ram Mehta is ordered to covertly enter East Pakistan under a false name to train the Mukti Bahini and advise them in operations. At the same time, Balram is tasked with improving the PT-76 tank, and his innovations draw attention from the higher command.

General Sam Manekshaw is impressed by Balram's tank innovations and orders him to join his regiment on the front. Balram sheds his desk job and prepares for frontline combat, stepping into a leadership role as the war approaches.

Ram leads Mukti Bahini in several successful operations against the Pakistan Army. During an operation, he is captured and taken to a camp, where he endures torture but refuses to divulge his identity or any critical information.

Balram's regiment crosses the border for the Battle of Garibpur. His senior officer, Major Daljit 'Chiefy' Singh Narang, is killed, forcing Balram to assume command and lead the unit to victory.

Shortly after Garibpur, Balram receives a call from Radha indicating that Major Ram is missing in action. The possibility of Ram’s fate weighs heavily on Balram as the war rages on.

Radha decodes a Pakistani communication warning that the United States Seventh Fleet is moving toward East Pakistan. The revelation adds urgency to completing decisive victories before foreign intervention can alter the balance.

The Mukti Bahini join forces with Balram’s troops and guide him to a camp where Major Ram is being held. The allied operation marks a turning point as Indian and Mukti Bahini forces coordinate for a rescue.

Ram is about to be executed for not revealing information, but the Mukti Bahini strike in time and shoot the executioner. Balram’s tank unit arrives, the camp is captured, and many Bengali women held as sex slaves are freed; Ram and Balram are reunited.

Pakistan Army surrenders and Bangladesh achieves independence. The trio—Ram, Balram, and Radha—returns home to their mother Maati, closing a chapter of their lives and beginning a new one after the war.
