Set in 1913 Beijing, three fierce women—Tsao Wan, a rebel in disguise; Sheung Hung, driven by a hunt for priceless jewels; and Pat Neil, an heiress of a Peking Opera troupe—join forces on a perilous quest. Their journey weaves intrigue, betrayal and defiance of social conventions against a backdrop of political unrest and the dazzling world of traditional Chinese opera.
