A projection session indoors becomes a fresh warning as a figure appears behind the screen, and the two are forced to bolt back into the van as the entity shakes the vehicle with violent force.
Maddie’s research eventually points them toward a rumored sanctuary—the Church of St. Christopher—where travelers once sought protection. Diana warns that this is not a place you can find on a map and that deciphering the signs is essential. When Diana tries to join them, the Passenger lashes out with brutal force, killing her and driving Maddie and Tyler to flee into the night, gasoline dwindling and nerves frayed.
The couple finds themselves chasing the trail of symbols and signs, chased by fear and a dwindling fuel supply. A billboard bears a clue, and a field of corpses shrouded in sheets becomes a grim trap set by The Passenger.
