Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones

The story begins in Oxnard, California, in June 2012, where Jesse celebrates his recent high school graduation with a party filled with family and friends. The event is joyful, with Jesse's father, sister, and grandmother attending, setting a celebratory mood for the narrative to unfold.

During the party, Jesse shares his growing concerns with his friend Marisol about their peculiar downstairs neighbor, Ana. He reveals how he and his friends often hear eerie wails and moans filtering through the ventilation system from Ana’s apartment, raising suspicions about what might be happening nearby.

The following day, Jesse and his friend Hector decide to have some fun with a new GoPro camera, capturing various amusing antics. However, their lighthearted mood is disrupted when they spot Oscar, a former classmate, leaving Ana’s apartment amidst a strange commotion, sparking their curiosity further.

Intrigued, Jesse and Hector attempt to investigate further by lowering the camera into Ana's apartment. To their shock, they witness Ana engaged in a strange ritual with a young woman, marking her belly with unusual symbols, which escalates their suspicion and fear about Ana's true nature.

Later, Marisol suggests a spine-chilling theory that Ana may be a 'bruja,' or Mexican witch, further heightening their paranoia. Their desire to uncover the truth leads them to formulate a plan to sneak into Ana's space, only to be confronted by an angry woman who pushes them away.

That night, while trying to enjoy some fireworks, Jesse and Hector are startled by Oscar's sudden appearance as he rushes back into Ana's apartment. Shortly after, police arrive to investigate Ana’s brutal murder, suspecting Oscar as the culprit, casting a shadow of fear over the boys.

Driven by fear and curiosity, Jesse and Hector venture into Ana's apartment, where they stumble upon a gruesome scene filled with occult artifacts and a VHS tape labeled 'Katie & Kristi 1988.' They manage to steal one of Ana's journals before leaving, deepening their involvement in the unfolding mystery.

The next morning, Jesse discovers a strange bite mark on his arm and notices his family dog, Chavo, behaving fearfully towards him. As Jesse and his friends delve into Ana's journal, they uncover disturbing illustrations that coincide with their earlier findings, hinting at deeper sorcery.

That evening, Jesse and his friends experiment with a Ghost Box, a device meant to communicate with spirits. To their horror, the device responds positively to Jesse's questions, suggesting a supernatural presence among them, despite Jesse’s grandmother warning against such dark games.
