Ailing village school faces demolition by a landowner. Kokila, who works there, fights to keep the institution open. The land dispute is tangled by conflicts within Kokila's family.

The teachers devise a plan to hold an alumni reunion to raise support and fund renovations. Kokila and others push the idea, hoping former students will rally to the cause. The event is seen as the key to saving the school from closure.

In a village flashback, Vetri, Kumar and Muthu grow up as poor friends. Jency, a nurse visiting for a medical camp, begins to care for Muthu after his father's death. The trio's bond remains strong despite hardship.

Vetri falls in love with Kokila during school days, despite a social gap between them. Jency's kindness earns trust and she helps Muthu pursue his education. The romance and social divides set the dramatic backdrop.

Kokila's family discovers Vetri's love and accuses Jency of encouraging it, humiliating her in public. Jency leaves the village, and Muthu goes with her. Vetri leaves the village to pursue higher education.

Vetri returns educated and intends to marry Kokila, but she asks to meet her parents first. In the confrontation, Kokila's father beats Vetri and Vetri's father dies in the fight. Kokila is locked away by her family, and Vetri, heartbroken, abandons the village.

Back in the present, Vetri, Kumar and Muthu reunite and reminisce about their school days. Muthu is now married and supports Jency, who cared for him. Kumar is also married and stays connected to the village.

Kumar describes the dilapidated state of the old school and pushes for action. Vetri is initially reluctant to return to the village, still haunted by the past. Kumar and Muthu urge him to reconsider for Kokila's sake.

An event to celebrate the school's 75th year invites Vetri and Muthu as special guests. They arrive, but Vetri and Kokila do not speak at first. Media attention and alumni interest heighten the stakes of the reunion.

Vetri files a case against Kokila's uncle to defend the school, and the court rules in its favor. Alumni donations pour in, funding renovations and signaling the school's survival. The community breathes a sigh of relief as the school is saved.

Kumar reveals that Vetri lied about being married to push Kokila to move on. Kokila realizes Vetri's enduring love and understands the hardships she faced. Vetri also recognizes Kokila's earlier captivity and pain.

Vetri and Kokila finally come together, and the school is saved for good. The old friends' reconciliation strengthens their bond and the community's hope. The film ends on a note of renewed purpose for the village.
